SECTION 1
l'île de la Cité

0001 - the Palace Quarter

We begin our Paris promenades at the tip of this City's largest island - its île de la Cité. From the western end of the square du Vert-Galant, we will cover everything towards the east until the island's bisicting rue de la Cité.

0002 - le Cloître Notre-Dame

Beginning from the Quai de la Corse, we will continue the course of our last promenade through to the island's quarter once known as the "Cloître Notre-Dame". After visiting some of its more obscure streets and courtyards we will make our way around to the front of the Cathedral Notre-Dame. Of course, along our way, we will be discussing the characters and architecture quite particular to this area...

SECTION 2
the Central Left Bank within Philippe-Auguste's Walls

0003 - le clos du Laas

This promenade will be taking us from the Petit-Pont to and through one of Paris' oldest quarters. The clos du Laas, becoming the rue du Laas then a thriving quarter around the Saint-Séverin church from the 12th century, would remain one of Paris' most animated quarters until well into the 17th century. This is more than likely because of its position between the Rive Gauche's principal roadways, today the rue de la Harpe and rue Saint-Jacques...

0004 - Le Clos Mauvoisin

In this promenade we will cover the clos Mauvoisin, a field that would become the genesis of Paris' University quarter from the 12th century. Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, Paris' University, colleges, acadamia (of Medicine particularily).
